Annual Hydrant Flushing Program: Public Works' hydrant flushing program plays an important part in the maintenance of the City's water distribution system by:

* Enhancing water quality by removing sediments from inside the water mains;

* Identifying malfunctions of the hydrant and related valves;

* Helping to identify weaknesses in the distribution system;

* Determining the fire flows at the hydrant; and

* Helping to identify inadequate water volumes and pressure in the mainlines.

Are you noticing discolored water in your home or business following hydrant flushing in your area?  Discolored water is not dangerous or a hazard to your health!  However, it is an aesthetic concern.  Run your cold water taps for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, or until the water clears. Give Public Works a call at 503-982-9429 or email molinger [at] cityofhubbard.org (subject: 2024%20ANNUAL%20HYDRANT%20FLUSHING) (molinger@cityofhubbard.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
